So, quite recently, I cut my hair short for charity. I suddenly thought that I should do a post so that you know about it and maybe you could do it too! There is quite a story that accompanies it so here goes...
A while ago in year 7 (11-12), I had REALLY long hair, so long that I could almost sit on it! Ages ago, we had some friends that grew their hair and gave it to a charity for wigs for children with leukaemia and other forms of cancer. I decided that this was what I wanted to do too. My mum looked into it and we found a lady who did it properly and in return cut your hair for free. I went and got it cut, she was very nice and made a massive fuss of me, even though she didn't expect to be paid.
After that, I grew my hair again until last summer in year 9 (13-14) when I decided that I wanted to donate it again. So, my mum called the nice hairdresser, but found that her hairdressers had been taken over by someone else. She looked into it a bit and discovered that what had happened was that her only daughter, aged 16, had now got cancer and the hairdresser was unable to work. Her daughter uses one of the wigs from the charity that I donated my hair to. She still said that she would cut my hair, and so I went to her house and she was very friendly. However, she revealed that she had given her hairdressers to a colleague, but the colleague had turned around and not let her work there at all. Her only source of income was taken from her, her daughter had cancer and all her friends acted weirdly around her. Her daughter also had been betrayed as one of her friends had started ignoring her, and leaving her out of group outings. However, because of her wig, she still looked amazing at prom.
I just want to say, if you can donate your hair or raise money for this charity, then please, please do. If you are interested, here is the link: http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk
